Can Claude do account research and pick your accounts for this week?

Yes, for one account at a time, if you make it cite. Ask Claude for a link, a publish date and a quote after every claim, and for the word unknown when it finds none. Then open every link before you decide to call, wait or skip.

Key takeaways

  • Skills work on Claude's Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with code execution turned on (Claude Help Center).
  • Anthropic's guide to reducing hallucinations says to let Claude admit it does not know, and to cite a quote for each claim (Claude docs).
  • A personal skill in Claude Code lives at ~/.claude/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md (Claude Code docs).
  • A live Toast job post, first published 13 October 2026, says the team is migrating to a new omnichannel contact center platform (Toast careers page).
  • The four free Kalko skills in this handbook need no Kalko account (kalko.ai/skills).

Can Claude do account research for sales?

Yes, with web search on. It reads the pages you point it to and the pages it finds, and writes a short read of the account.

The same prompt works in ChatGPT with search on. The skill steps in this handbook are for Claude.

  • It works on one account per chat, and on what it can open today.
  • It writes well and fast, so a wrong claim reads as well as a right one.
  • It follows written rules. The rules decide whether its answer is safe to send.

What does Claude do well and badly in account research?

Anthropic says even the best models can write text that is wrong, and that its fixes reduce errors without removing them. Plan for both columns in the table.

TaskClaude on its ownWhat you add
Read one job postSays well what the team is building, when you paste the link or the textCheck the quote against the post

How do you make Claude cite a dated source for every claim?

Write the rules into the prompt. Anthropic gives three fixes: let Claude say it does not know, ground answers in direct quotes, and cite a quote per claim.

The prompt in this section uses all three. Paste it, fill in the three brackets, and keep web search on.

Read the answer for the word unknown. An unknown line is honest, and it becomes a question for the call.

Research <company> for me. I sell <what you sell> to <the team that buys it>.

Rules:
1. Use only pages you open in this chat: job posts, filings, the company's own pages and news.
2. After every claim, give the URL and the date the page was published.
3. Quote the exact words on the page that support the claim.
4. If you find no source for a line, write "unknown". Do not guess.
5. Company facts only. Do not name or profile people.

Answer in this order:
- What they are working on (quote, URL, date)
- Build or buy, and what they use today
- Which team owns the work
- Reasons to skip them
- Call, wait or skip, with one line of reason

Then check each claim again. If the page does not hold the quote, remove the claim.

What is a Claude skill?

Anthropic says skills give Claude access to specialized knowledge and workflows. A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file of instructions.

Claude reads each skill's description and loads the skill when your request matches it. In Claude Code, you can also type /skill-name to run one.

For account research, the skill holds the source rule, so you stop pasting it into every chat.

GTM teams share skills in public. Ryze AI's marketing-skills repository had 6,061 stars on GitHub on 28 October 2026.

ColdIQ's post on X giving away its Claude Code skills (23 April 2026) had 7,587 bookmarks on 28 October 2026.

How do you add a skill in Claude.ai?

Skills work on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. These steps follow Anthropic's help page as of 28 October 2026.

  1. On Free, Pro or Max, open Settings, then Capabilities, and turn on code execution and file creation.
  2. On Team or Enterprise, an admin turns on Skills under Organization settings, then Plugins and skills.
  3. Download one skill folder and zip the folder itself, so the zip holds the folder at its top level.
  4. Open Customize, then Skills. Select +, then Create skill, then Upload a skill, and pick the zip.
  5. Turn on web search in the chat, and ask in plain words, for example, is Toast worth a call this week?

How do you add a skill in Claude Code?

Copy the skill folder into ~/.claude/skills/ for all your projects, or into .claude/skills/ inside one repository.

Each Kalko skill page on kalko.ai/skills has a Download SKILL.md button. Save the file in a folder named after the skill.

Start Claude Code and ask in plain words, or type /call-wait-skip with the company name.

Which free skills help you pick accounts?

The Kalko skills are free and need no Kalko account. Each one runs a handful of web searches, and each line has a source or says unknown.

Run them in this order. Decode the posts, decide call, wait or skip, then prep and write only for the accounts you call.

SkillYou give itYou get back
job-post-decoderOne job post link or textWhat they build, build or buy, the owner, an opening line, and whether the post is open today
call-wait-skipOne companyCall, wait or skip, with the reason and the source
call-prepA company and the person you meetA one-page prep, with gaps marked to discover
sourced-openerA companyAn opener built on one dated public fact, plus three follow-ups

What does a sourced answer look like?

Take one account and one live job post. Toast, the restaurant software company, posted a care engineering role on 13 October 2026.

The inputs were the company, what you sell and the source rule. The source was one post, open when we checked it on 28 October 2026.

Four lines have a quote and a date. The vendor line says unknown, because the post names no vendor.

The same post gives three different decisions, because the decision depends on what you sell.

A sourced answer for Toast from one job post first published 13 October 2026. Working on a new omnichannel contact center platform. The team builds its agent tools. Stack is AWS. Owner is the Care Experience team. Vendor unknown. Verdict for a seller of integration testing tools: call.
Inputs, sources and the decision. Quotes from the live Toast post, checked 28 October 2026.
If you sellLine in the postDecision
A contact center platform“vendor platform limitations”Skip: a vendor platform is already in
An agent desktopThe team “builds the systems and tools” agents useSkip: they build it themselves
Tools to test or watch integrations“complex integrations, vendor platform limitations, and real-time system dependencies”Call: a dated reason, nothing in the way

How do you check the sources Claude gives you?

Check every line before it goes into a message.

Dates are easy to mix up. Elastic's Revenue Cloud post went live on 18 September 2026 and was edited on 16 October 2026 (Greenhouse API).

Elastic's post says the role leads “the migration from Salesforce CPQ to Revenue Cloud”. Date that claim 18 September 2026.

  1. Open the link. If it does not load, drop the line.
  2. Find the quote on the page with your browser's find tool. If it is not there, drop the line.
  3. Check the publish date on the page, and keep it apart from the date the post was last edited.
  4. Check that the post is still open today.
  5. Before you call, look for a second source that points at the same project.
Four steps. Prompt with one company, what you sell and the source rule. Answer with claims, each with a quote, a link and a date. Check: open every link, confirm the quote and that the post is open, or drop the line. Decide call, wait or skip.
Prompt, sourced answer, check, decision. The check is the step you cannot skip.

How do you run this for every account?

The skills work on one account per run, on what Claude finds that day. A market has hundreds of accounts, and posts open and close every week.

Anthropic's docs say a skill cannot reach another service, and that live data comes from an MCP connector.

Kalko runs this read on every account in your market. Each one gets what it is working on, who to contact, and call, wait or skip.

Connect Claude to the Kalko MCP server and ask for your board in the same chat. Each account comes with these lines:

  • What the company is working on but has not announced, quoted from its job posts, filings or buyer posts.
  • The source link and the publish date for each claim.
  • A rank by need, not only by fit, re-scored every week.
  • Reasons to skip the account, when Kalko finds any.
  • Who to contact and what to say, as a play you approve before anything sends.
  • Call prep and drafted messages in the app, in Slack or through MCP.
Left: Claude with free skills, one account per run. You paste one company, Claude runs a few searches, you check every link, and you run it again next week. Right: Claude with the Kalko MCP, every account in your market, re-scored every week. Each has what it is working on, who to contact, call, wait or skip, and a source and date on each line.
One account in Claude, or every account in Kalko, from the same chat.
  • Kalko MCP: Connect Claude in a few steps. MCP access comes on every plan, and the trial gives 200 credits.
  • How Kalko checks a claim: The checks every claim passes before it reaches you.

Questions people ask

Can ChatGPT do account research for sales?

Yes, with search on and the same rules. Ask for a link, a publish date and a quote after each claim, and open every link before you act.

Do the free Kalko skills need a Kalko account?

No. They run on Claude's own web search. The Kalko MCP is the part that needs an account.

Why does Claude give a link that does not hold the claim?

Language models can write text that is wrong, and a link can look right without holding the quote. Ask for the quote with every link, and open each one.

Which Claude plans support skills?

Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, according to the Claude Help Center. Skills need code execution turned on.

Is a skill the same as an MCP connector?

No. A skill is a folder of instructions that Claude follows. An MCP connector lets Claude use another service, such as Kalko, with live data.
