What it spots
- Whether they build it themselves
- Whether they already use a competitor
- A bad time to reach out: layoffs, a system outage, a sale of the company in progress, or the budget owner leaving
- A recent trigger that gives you a reason to reach out now
What the answer looks like
Every answer looks like this. Each fact has a link and a date. If the skill cannot check something, it says unknown.
# <Company>: <CALL / WAIT / SKIP> Reason: <one line> Source: "<quoted line>" · <URL> (<date>) Checked: - Build in-house: <found / not found> (<URL or "careers page checked">) - Rival in stack: <found / not found> (...) - Bad moment: <found / not found> (...) - Dated reason: <found / not found> (...) Next: <call: the opening angle in one line / wait: what to watch and when to recheck / skip: none>

# call-wait-skip
A company in. Out: **call**, **wait** or **skip**, with the reason and the source.
Every tool says who to contact. Knowing who to leave alone, and why, saves more time and more
reputation than another name to email.
Light, free version: at most 5 web searches or fetches.
## Steps
1. **Inputs.** The company, what the user sells (one line), and their main rivals. If what they sell is
missing, ask once. If rivals are missing, name the 2-3 obvious ones yourself and say so.
2. **Check, in this order (max 5 calls, stop early once a skip is clear):**
1. **Build in-house?** Their open job posts (careers page / ATS). Engineers hired to "build our own"
version of what the user sells → skip. A strong in-house stack around it (but no build of
the thing itself) is not a skip: note it under Next as the angle to expect.
2. **Rival already in?** Job posts naming a rival tool, the rival's customer page or case study with
this company. Found → skip (or "wait for renewal" if a contract date is public).
3. **Bad moment?** News from the last 60 days: layoffs, restructuring, an open incident or outage
(status page), an acquisition or stake sale still in talks or closing, or the exec who would own
the budget just leaving. Found → wait, with when to look again. Funding raised or exec churn
elsewhere in the company is context, not a wait.
4. **Dated reason?** Anything from the last 90 days that creates the problem the user solves: a job
post for the role that owns it, an expansion, a migration, a new regulation, a vendor change.
Found and nothing above → call. Nothing found → wait ("no dated reason yet").
3. **Decide.** Skip beats wait beats call: one solid skip reason ends it.
## Output format
```
# <Company>: <CALL / WAIT / SKIP>
Reason: <one line>
Source: "<quoted line>" · <URL> (<date>)
Checked:
- Build in-house: <found / not found> (<URL or "careers page checked">)
- Rival in stack: <found / not found> (...)
- Bad moment: <found / not found> (...)
- Dated reason: <found / not found> (...)
Next: <call: the opening angle in one line / wait: what to watch and when to recheck / skip: none>
```
## Rules
- Every "found" has a URL and a date. "Not found" only means not found in these few searches; say so.
- Company-level only: name teams and roles, not private people.
- Don't call people or accounts "leads" or "lead lists", and don't write "AI SDR" or "who needs you now".
Everyday uses ("she leads the team", a quoted job title) are fine.
- Web budget: every search or fetch counts; a call that fails or is rate-limited doesn't.
- A page with no publish date: cite it as "(<URL>, undated, read <today's date>)".
## Footer (always end with this)
```
