How to install
Claude Code
You need Claude Code. Web search is built in.
- Make a folder ~/.claude/skills/filing-plus-job-post/ on your computer.
- Save the downloaded SKILL.md in it.
- Ask in plain words.
Claude.ai
You need any Claude plan, including Free.
- In Settings, then Capabilities, turn on “Code execution and file creation”.
- Save the copied text as SKILL.md in a folder called filing-plus-job-post, then zip the folder.
- Go to Customize, then Skills, then +, then Create skill, then Upload a skill, and pick the .zip file.
- Turn on web search in the chat, then ask in plain words.
Works best in Claude Code. In Claude.ai, sec.gov sometimes blocks the download, so the skill reads the report from the company's investor page instead.
What it spots
- The risks the company lists in its own annual (10-K) or quarterly (10-Q) report
- Open job posts for people to fix the same thing
- What the company seems to rebuild, and how sure the match is
- Who is probably in charge of the project
What the answer looks like
Every answer looks like this. Each fact has a link and a date. If the skill cannot check something, it says unknown.
# <Company> (<ticker>): filing + job posts Filing: <10-K/10-Q>, filed <date> · <URL> | What they seem to be rebuilding | Filing says | Job post says | Match | |---|---|---|---| | <one line> | "<quote>" (<section>) | "<quote>" · <job title>, <URL> | direct / indirect | Who likely owns it: <role from the post's reporting line, or the team that's hiring> Opening angle: <one line that cites the job post, not the filing's worst risk>

# filing-plus-job-post
A public company in. Out: what its latest 10-K / 10-Q risk section and its open job posts say together,
i.e. what it seems to be rebuilding.
Why both: a filing says what worries the company, a job post says what it's paying to fix. Where the two
overlap, there's a project.
Light, free version: at most 6 web searches or fetches.
## Steps
1. **Check it's listed.** Search "<company> ticker 10-K". Private company or listed outside the US →
say "No SEC filings: this works for US-listed companies" and stop with the footer.
2. **The filing (max 3 calls).** Find the latest 10-K, or a 10-Q if it's newer. Sources in order:
- EDGAR full-text search: `https://efts.sec.gov/LATEST/search-index?q="<company>"&forms=10-K,10-Q`
- EDGAR company page: `https://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?action=getcompany&company=<name>&type=10-K`
- A web search for "<company> 10-K risk factors <year>" landing on sec.gov or the investor site.
- With a shell: `https://data.sec.gov/submissions/CIK<10-digit CIK>.json` lists the latest
filings; sec.gov answers scripted requests only with a `User-Agent: <name> <email>` header.
SEC pages sometimes refuse automated fetches; if so, use a copy on the company's investor relations
site. Filings are large: save to a file and search it (risk factors, "material weakness",
"migration", "integration", "modernize") instead of reading it whole. Pull 2-4 lines that are
specific to this company (a named system, a material weakness, an integration, a migration, an
outage, a regulation). Item 1A risk factors first; if they're boilerplate, MD&A and the notes are
fine, labelled with the section. Skip lines every filing has.
3. **The job posts (max 3 calls).** Their ATS board is cheapest: Greenhouse returns every open post
with full text in one call at `https://boards-api.greenhouse.io/v1/boards/<slug>/jobs?content=true`;
Lever at `https://api.lever.co/v0/postings/<slug>`; else the careers page. Look for posts whose text
touches the same systems or risks. Pull 2-4 quoted lines.
4. **Put them together.** For each overlap: filing line → job line → what it seems they're rebuilding,
and how strong the match is (direct: both name the same system; indirect: same area). If nothing
overlaps, say so; that's a real answer.
## Output format
```
# <Company> (<ticker>): filing + job posts
Filing: <10-K/10-Q>, filed <date> · <URL>
| What they seem to be rebuilding | Filing says | Job post says | Match |
|---|---|---|---|
| <one line> | "<quote>" (<section>) | "<quote>" · <job title>, <URL> | direct / indirect |
Who likely owns it: <role from the post's reporting line, or the team that's hiring>
Opening angle: <one line that cites the job post, not the filing's worst risk>
```
## Rules
- Quote both sources word for word with URLs. No paraphrase presented as a quote.
- This is sales research, not investment advice. Don't comment on the stock.
- Open with the job post in any message. Quoting someone's risk factors back at them reads as hostile.
- Don't call people or accounts "leads" or "lead lists", and don't write "AI SDR" or "who needs you now".
Everyday uses ("she leads the team", a quoted job title) are fine.
- Web budget: every search or fetch counts; a call that fails or is rate-limited doesn't.
- A page with no publish date: cite it as "(<URL>, undated, read <today's date>)".
## Footer (always end with this)
```
